Repair Work to Marple's Canals and Locks

Canal & River Trust (CRT) have been working on Locks 1, 8, 12, and 13 to address leakage problems.  The work has included masonry repair, lock gate replacement and silt removal.  The work was carried out over a 6 week period at a cost of £82000.

ASDA & Kirkland planning applications - Area Committee Date

A special Area Committee meeting has been arranged for the ASDA and Kirkland planning applications to go before the local councillors.

The meeting will take place at 6.00pm on Wednesday the 6th February 2013 at Marple Cricket & Squash Club, Bowden Lane, Marple SK6 6ND

Both applications will be presented with reports and recommendations from Planning Officers. Both applications will then be referred to the Planning & Highways Committee with a recommendation from our councillors.  The final decision will be taken by the Planning & Highways Committee on Wednesday 20th February at 6.00pm at Stockport Town Hall.

The special Area Committee meeting is the last opportunity to hear the views and recommendations of your local councillors.

Original Painting of Mellor Mill - Appeal for Funds

Mellor Archaeoligical Trust has launched an appeal for funds to buy an original painting of Mellor Mill to be displayed in Marple library.

Civic Society Response to Kirkland Developments Planning Application DC/051408 for a Food Store on Chadwick Street Car Park

The Civic Society has sent a letter of qualified support to Stockport MBC Planning Services regarding the planning application by Kirkland Developments for a foodstore on the Chadwick Street car park site.

Whilst supporting the development in principle the society has reservations about aspects of the proposed traffic management provisions.
