Marple Aqueduct - Work Starts on Removal of Vegetation

British Waterways have made a start this week on removing the vegetation which had almost completely covered the Aqueduct. A HLF application has been submitted, supported by Marple Civic Society and The Marple Vision Partnership, for further conservation work, better access, low level viewing area, towpath improvements, work on 3 canal bridges and an active learning programme to involve local people. British Waterways staff and Gillian and Alan Postill from Marple Civic Society went to the Aqueduct this morning to meet a reporter from BBC Radio Manchester for a live broadcast on the Alan Beswick breakfast show.
