Revealing Oldknow's Legacy - Heritage Lottery Fund 2nd Stage Application Submitted

The 2nd stage application has been submitted to the Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF) "Revealing Oldknow's Legacy"

The  bid is supported by a detailed Conservation Management Plan and Activity Plan.

Oldknow’s legacy is important in many ways. It is an example of how a man of modest origins could become a leader in commercial and industrial life at the end of the 18th century. Oldknow can be said to be the founder of Marple as we know it today.

The project will focus not only on conservation work of important physical structures but will tell the story of great social, industrial and commercial changes that can be linked to Oldknow’s career.

The bid is strong and we are optimistic but we must wait until September before we know if it is successful in securing £1.5 million - then the work begins and will take 3 years to complete.
