Marple Heritage Project - Drop In Sessions to Invite Local Views

The Marple Heritage Project 'Revealing Oldknow's Legacy' is inviting local people to give their views at one of the two drop in sessions arranged on the following dates:

Saturday 13th April in Market Street - 11am to 2pm

Tuesday 16th April in Marple Library - 3pm to 7pm

The project aims to reveal the physical heritage by excavating and conserving Mellor Mill complex, repairing and improving the visibility of Marple Aqueduct and conserving the Lime Kilns. Other works would include environmental enhancements to the canal corridor and Goyt Valley, interpretation at key heritage points using innovative digital technology and providing heritage training skills.

The project has received £45,000 of development funding from the Heritage  Lottery Fund (HLF), which is now being used to undertake    a series of vital studies and surveys to form the cornerstone of an ambitious £1.3 million plan to develop Marple as a key visitor attraction.

Although the scheme is in its early stages, it is important to have community input by seeking the views of local people.

Do come along to find out more, ask questions and let us have your views and suggestions which will help to inform and steer the project forward.
